Middle School Information Night The Middle School Information Night has been planned for, Wednesday, 23rd June at 7.30 pm. More information about the information night will be available closer to the date. Dear Parents and Students It is great to see the results of fine work and effort that many of our students have accomplished so far. This week we have a particular focus on work skills, this involves managing time, planning and organising with efficiency. We find many of our students need significant help in these areas, therefore, we will focus on these systematically to help build better organisational habits in our students.
Our God is a great organiser, recently I read some statistics prepared by the American Army Quarter Master General regarding the Israelites passage out of Egypt and their forty years in the dessert going to the promised land. It revealed some very interesting figures. There were approximately 3½ million people in the entourage with Moses. To cross the Red Sea in a day and a night would have taken a strip around 5 km wide, allowing 5000 people to walk abreast at walking pace to get from one side to the other. To feed that number of people each day, would take around 1,500 tonnes of food this is equivalent to two Goods trains each over 1 km long every day. To provide their water needs, you would need around 9 Goods trains comprising of tankers each 1 km along and the firewood for cooking would have been even greater. It's great how our God provided the manna each day six days a week with extra on the sixth day to cover the Sabbath. Our God provided just what those people needed at that time. As we see our world trying to cater for the huge number of Kosovo refugees, we can see that this is only a small percentage of the number of people who left Egypt and travelled into the dessert with Moses. Although they had no modern machinery, no aircraft carriers or Goods Trains, God provided them with all of their needs and even made provision for the Sabbath . Our God is providing our needs as we grow as a school, we need to continue to have faith that he will do that whilst we are planning and working towards providing those things that are within our power to provide. Man makes his plans but God determines his paths.
As part of that planning, the Middle School is enhancing the way that we are involving parents, so far many parents have contributed to the growth and development of the Middle School. in many ways from assistance in the classroom, the maintenance areas, attendance on school camps developing and preparing resources. We are very greatful to all those people in fact many of the families have been represented. It is a little like the Middle School Army of ants all working together sometimes not knowing what others are doing.
To improve this, I wish to develop a system where we can communicate together about the needs of the Middle School about what we are doing about it and about the tasks that need to be done. This requires communication in this very crucial stage of our schools development as we prepare to shift campus we need to develop structures which will improve the communication to do that every second Wednesday at 3.40 in the year 7/8 room there will be a short meeting that will go for a maximum of 20 minutes and will start and finish punctually, in that time, we will cover planning and preparing things which will greatly enhance the schools program I am inviting all parents and people associated with the Middle School to attend particularly the first meeting and try to attend regularly. This communication meeting will be about building the Middle School team because this team is not only a team of teachers, but it also involves parents as an integral part of that team. We are inviting all parents to take part in this as we co-ordinate our efforts particularly in preparation for the moving of campus. Last week our particular focus was on manners and our student of the week for last week in year 7/8 was Rebecca Love for consistently demonstrating excellent manners and courtesy in addition to being a diligent worker in the school classroom and in fulfilling many extra curricular duties in relation to the choir
Thank you to those parents who are responding to our Needs list. It is a lengthy document and reflects that in a growing school there are many needs. We are praying that one way or another God will meet all of those needs over the next year and we will trust in him that he will do that.
May God bless you all Eugene Willems
