Structure and Core Beliefs

The school is co-operatively managed by a board of officers drawn from a number of Churches in the Latrobe Valley along with some parents and professional people. The Parents and Friends Association also elects a representative to the Board once a year.

The Board oversees the educational direction of the school. It formulates the vision for the future and determines school policy for the day to day administration of the school.

We believe that…

  • God is the source of all things including knowledge and wisdom and therefore God must be central in all our activities and teaching.
  • Christian life is nourished and regulated by the authority of the Word of God.
  • Christian Parents are therefore required to bring up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 22:6 Deuteronomy 6:4-12, Luke 2:52)
  • The school's role is to assist and support the Parents in this God given task in every way possible
  • Each child needs to know God personally and to accept the lordship of Jesus Christ over his/her life.
  • Each child needs to grow up secure of who s/he is as a child of God not need to find his/her identity anywhere else.
  • Every child is created in the image of God and has within him all the potential to live life in perfect obedience to God's will, as a reflection of God living in him or her.

As "..Jesus grew in wisdom (education) and in favour with God (spiritually) and man (socially).." (Luke 2:52), so we need to provide opportunities in each child to recognise his or her God given talents and abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

We need to encourage the development of these gifts to the highest possible standard so that the child may grow up to take his or her place as a part of the Body of Christ and as a secure member of the community in which she or he works and lives.

The responsibility of training children is primarily the Parents task (Eph.6-4).However the society in which we live hands over part of that task to the teacher. We at the valley Christian Community School see our role as that of supporting the parents in this training, not as a replacement.

Therefore there must be close co-operation and communication between home and school, parent and teacher, in order to help the
